Under Mothers Wing

Better known as Down Time, a successful entry in the BBC’s Country file Calendar completion beating over 30,000 other entries to claim one of the twelve top spots to be featured in the 2018 calendar. A simple composition with the cygnet’s head poking out from under the wing of it’s mother. An un-planned and opportunistic moment captured.

Off Shore

Llandulas beach looking over the Irish sea stands a large amount of wind turbines. My aim was to take some long exposure images with the intent of creating a black and white print. Back home in the editing suit and conversion to a monochromatic, I decided low key pastel colours worked best as a more attractive and appealing image.  

Miners Retreat

Above the Welsh town of Llanberis lies the remains of the disused Dinorwic slate quarry. Abandoned in 1969 many artifacts remain. Inside some of the buildings old work boots and various other items used or worn by the mine workers can be found, on an upper level stands a roofless a cutting shed, inside the old steam powered machinery slowly decaying.

Suffolk Reeds

On a trip with a couple of photography friends to Suffolk, abandoned decaying boats on the agenda. Unimpressed at this location due to wind and dull flat light I turned my attention to the reeds blowing in the wind. Dropping down low to catch the top of the reeds against dark grey clouds and a brighter patch in the sky the sun momentarily popped through
